    Waste Of Space Wiki

    The Unstable situation

Another poll-type thing. Woohoo. It has currently not been decided whether to include unstable content in the wiki, and if so in what way. Please vote by signing yourself below and adding your comment.

    • https://wasteofspace.miraheze.org/wiki/User:AmogusSus i vote yes cause we will have to add it one day
      • RE (Axenori (talk) 20:52, 24 February 2024 (UTC)): How would you like unstable content to be handled? Part of the existing articles, in comments, or separate articles?
    • I believe unstable should not be included in the wiki, at least as part of the text. It makes much more sense to add unstable content in comments on the wiki, which can then be uncommented when necessary. Most (>90% ) of the playerbase is on stable anyways, and I feel cramming two articles into one is not exactly the best solution (having one version after the other is a bit unwieldy, and mixing information from both into a single cohesive text reduces clarity and memory retention), while adding a whole separate category and rewriting everything on the wiki is, erm, practically impossible. --Axenori (talk) 20:49, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Voted yes. We should add the infobox template where it is said that it is only a part of the unstable version of the gane - Anonymous User (talk) 02:54, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

    TBC Pages

Here is the list of pages that will be created later. We will also create pages later if we are ready. Also, Everyone has the right to edit the wiki, so they can do whatever they want to add or fix pages. -Anonymous User, 03:59, February 23rd, 2023 (UTC)

Reasons why bugs and glitches should be in Community Category

This is due to these tried by players. The game is in alpha stage and the game description says you can encounter bugs and glitches. These bugs and glitches may or may not be a part of Roblox Engine. Developers may not know these bugs. There are many bug reports around Eggs D Studios discord server and Roblox groups. It will take time for Developers to fix these bugs and glitches in the game. - Anonymous User, Sunday, 10:13 AM, February 18th, 2024 (UTC)

I agree for the most part. I'll use this to go on a bit of a tangent on why Category:Community was even created and what belongs there.
The community category was created to unify unofficial(-ish) articles under a common category to warn readers that they may contain information that is unofficial or unintended; that is, that the information contained therein may be subject to drastic change (or removal) without any prior notice or indication. It also serves as a way for articles like Tip&Tricks or 0,0,0,0 to exist on the wiki. While these do not document a concrete, official part of the game, they still contain useful and interesting knowledge. It would be a shame not to preserve it in some way, and potentially even pass it down.
When writing the wiki we strive to be objective. However, this need not be the case all of the time. Perhaps, sometimes we can just have a little fun. --Axenori (talk) 11:39, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

How much freedom of choice should be in articles?

Should we, as wiki writers, give the reader advice they MUST follow or let them decide on every single choice? Both sides of the argument are compelling; giving the reader advice they must follow makes it easier to follow the article for new players (less choice inherently means easier as they don't have to think as much), but this also may force opinions onto said newer players as they might accept it as just fact and blindly follow the advice.

If this is not clear here's a concrete example: Should we tell a reader reading Finding A Planet that they should not go for a neutron or black hole system as they are often checked by raiders, or should we just tell them that they are dangerous and to possibly consider other star types?

Please let me know of your opinions by leaving a reply. --Axenori (talk) 19:41, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Neutron stars and blackholes are as safe as normal stars - AmogusSus
This was given as an example. Also, when the article was written this wasn't really the case (I do not unfortunately really have any evidence for this except for personal account so take this with a grain of salt of course. I may have been wrong). This is why I asked the exact question posed in this post though. The wiki should serve to be an objective source of truth about the game it describes, but also a helpful guide (which is inherently subjective). The problem is where to draw the line between objective and subjective, and how to effectively communicate which is which to the reader without using a bunch of "warning! this is subjective" templates. RE:[Ccplover2] Waste of Space uses fahrenheit as its unit of measurement for temperature (I think this is what you wanted to ask?). No measurement unit exists for heat in the game, though that would be measured in joules in real life :') --Axenori (talk) 19:51, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

    Deletion reasoning for factions/players

(Hi! Just a heads up. This is meant for editors wondering what the deletion reason was for faction/player pages. If this doesn't describe you it likely won't be of interest to you.)

(tl;dr: articles about players or groups of players don't serve a useful purpose and as such unnecessarily strain miraheze's storage infrastructure)

Articles about players or groups of players are not welcome on this wiki as they are: 1) Prone to becoming obsolete; players inevitably stop actively playing, effectively rendering these kinds of articles usless. This becomes impossible to indefinitely maintain as only administrators can delete pages, and the same principle as for players applies. Factions are groups of player so this directly extends to them aswell. This excess data puts unnecessary strain on miraheze's infrastructure. 2) NOT: metainformational/organization articles (eg. Improving the wiki. These are of use to contributors) OR historical information (eg. April fools events. These are of use to end users who wish to learn about events they did not experience) OR content explicitly contained within the game (eg. Resources. There are of use to players who require information about a specific mechanic or item) OR a guide or tutorial (These are useful to players who require help with the game). The commonality between all of these is that they are related to the game or wiki and are of practical use to all end users (a good rule of thumb is to imagine yourself as a contributor or new player. If this article is potentially useful to you it likely belongs on the wiki). While these types of articles are related to the game, they are only really serve the same player or group of players who created them; they do not serve all end users. As such we can say that "they don't serve a useful purpose".

Articles which cover unofficial or unintended content (such as this one!) should ALWAYS explicitly be marked as such by using Template:CommunityWarning.

As this wiki is by the users for the users, if there is a large enough push by the users and or editiors, we could compromise on a solution like organizing these types of articles into a single list so the community can self-regulate and prune bad additions without potentially wiki-disrupting permissions which griefers could use to cause catastrophic damage. To let me know about any ideas or complaints regarding this please let me know by leaving your comment on the talk page of Improving the wiki.

Does anyone else have trouble loading images on this website ?

I've looked at many pages and all images that used to be there no longer load and when I click on them, I get an error message. Is it just me or is it Miraheze having problems ? - 174.93.19.143 19 November 2023 (UTC)

I can't upload image too. - QC Game (talk) 19 November 2023 (UTC)
Re: It seems to be miraheze's fault. If you go to the page of an image and follow the link to its source you get a 502 (server) error. It'll probably be fixed soon. Zix (talk) 00:53, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
