Gas Giants are massive planets with a gaseous composition. They have extreme conditions.

    Features[edit | hide all | hide | edit source]

    • Gas giants always harbour extreme temperatures (often around ±300 °F). Their atmosphere is usually breathable.
    • They lack any sort of land and thus resources as well.
    • Their interiors are readily filled with large gas clouds. These extend from where the surface in a normal planet would be all the way down, almost reaching the void, which is the part destruction height. These gas clouds can not be harvested.
    • The gas clouds inside gas giants are opaque, but turn invisible once the player is inside them due to how Roblox's mesh rendering works. These clouds have their own randomly generated colors, and do not necessarily match with the planet's exterior.
    • Gas giants often have large, resource rich rings.
    • They can be distinguished on the StarMap by their sand-like texture.

    Colonization[edit | hide | edit source]

Gas giants are incredibly dangerous planets, with their colonization being nigh-impossible. Their lack of resources lends them little purpose, and makes generating power (which is very much necessary to keep up with the incredible energy demands of dozens of coolers/heaters) difficult. Permanent colonization of a gas giant is a great endeavour.

This does mean they make great hiding spots for high-value objects, though only for the brave of heart. They should only be entered with thorough preparation and sufficient resources to last as long as the stay within them is planned to last.

While gas giant's interiors are incredibly inhospitable and have few practical use cases, their rings can serve as a great spot for a ring base. As gas giants are ENORMOUS and rings scale with planet size this means great amounts of resources can be harvested from their rings. One challenge is the lack of gravity and oxygen in space, as well as the constrained building space, though this shouldn't pose a significant challenge to even mid-game players.

    Trivia[edit | hide | edit source]

    • The starter area in the tutorial takes place at is the ring of a gas giant. A gas giant can also be seen on the menu screen when entering the game.
    • It is possible to actually escape the tutorial area (using propellers and the like), though unfortunately impossible to enter the gas giant it takes place around.
