As the name suggests, Desert planets are the types of planets covered mostly by sand. Most desert planets are generally hot, making them harder to create a habitable base, so it advised players to use coolers in order to build bases and stations, but good places for an outpost if you have the materials to be in case of energy failure. |
Desert planets are planets mostly covered with sand and desolate rock. They have scorching temperatures. |

==Features== |
* Desert planets are first and foremost distinguished by their sandy cover and scorching temperatures. |
* Their terrain is similar to their "sisters", tundra planets. They are mostly vast and open, being split up into continents. These continents are surrounded by barren, rocky expanses. Mountains are common, and are mostly found in bunched up groups. |
* Ores are usually moderately abundant on them, though rarely they can be richly abundant with ores. Any of the ores from the standard set of ores can generate. |
* These planets do not contain any vegetation. |
* Their conditions are always inhospitably hot, sometimes more so and sometimes less so. Atmosphere breathability varies, though they often have a breathable atmosphere. |
== Colonization == |
Due to their open nature, these planets are ideal for large, sprawling bases or storage facilities. They can also make a great place for shipbuilding or the like. Similarly to tundra planets they offer a balance between habitability and safety, as raiders may be discouraged by the scorching temperatures. They tend to be a bit more open and expansive than tundra planets, but lack water. All-in-all, a great planet type for those who want a bit of everything. |
Scorchingly hot, desert planets are somewhat difficult to inhabit and settle. Although coolers are quite efficient and don't require that much electricity a reliable source of power is still a must. Due to the lack of water you will need to mine ice from stone. Make sure to bring a hydroponic beforehand due to the lack of vegetation, or use the method outlined in Tips&Tricks to get some starting Rubber. |
Traversal is not possible without preparing beforehand due to the hot temperature. A "cooler-backpack" can be fashioned by attaching a few coolers to an apparel, and using an antenna power them (and perhaps a switch in between to be able to toggle it on and off). |
Except for their temperature, no further challenges should be encountered while trying to colonize them. |
