If you are searching for star types, go here: Celestial bodies

Stars are large spherical objects that emit a bright light (with the exception of black holes, but we'll get to that). They are classified in science as a "luminous ball of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, held together by its own gravity, that generates its luminosity through fusion reactions from the aforementioned elements". They constitute the core of a solar system.

In game, the star map is split into two levels: a planetary level and a celestial level (these aren't official names, feel free to use whatever names you want). The star map is comparable to a Minecraft world (except there is no third dimension), the chunks each representing a coordinate on the celestial level and each block representing a coordinate on the planetary level. Each celestial coordinate can contain either:

    • nothing (the most common, denoted by nothing)
    • a red star (denoted by a red circle)
    • a yellow star (denoted by a yellow circle)
    • an orange star (denoted by an orange circle)
    • a blue star (you get the gist)
    • a neutron star (denoted by a white circle)
    • a black hole (intended to be denoted by a hollow white circle, but typically appears as an image of a satellite)

Within a star, a satellite image can override its appearance. This typically denotes the arrival of an alien or the presence of a player's base.

A star produces light. If your celestial coordinates match that of a star (but not a black hole), solar panels that are present will generate energy, the amount of energy made per tick increasing further down the list of what can exist on the celestial map you are orbiting (excluding black holes which will act as if your solar panels do not exist).

Stars used to burn and destroy any and all parts that touched them, as well as killing players that did so, but that feature has since been removed due to people accidentally teleporting into them when warping.
