The MiningLaser harvests materials at a distance. While powered, it fires a concentrated energy beam and tries to mine the resource specified in its configuration; which it is only able to do if its beam is in contact with a deposit of said resource. It deposits any mined resources into attached bins. It has the same mining rate as the Extractor (2 resources / second), but along with being able to mine at a distance, it offers the advantage of not needing to be spaced out 50 studs from other MiningLasers. It, however, generates more heat; at least 2 coolers are needed per MiningLaser to keep the temperature from rising.
MiningLaser is a ranged version of the Extractor. It can mine ressources remotely but comes with the disadvantage of being costly, power-hungry and very hot while in use.
The MiningLaser produces exactly 50 heat while active (the equivalent of 2.5 coolers) and its beam is 2048 studs long.

The appearance of the MiningLaser can not be changed by using the paint tool on it; only the colour of its laser (which is cyan by default).
The MiningLaser has 2 Main purposes: Being portable and its lack of limitation.
It can be placed on a vehicule as it does not need to be stuck to a ressource deposit to mine, allowing mining ships to exist while also being incredibly compact.
Additionally this part has no limitation (as in the 50 stud rule), allowing larger amounts or multiple ressources to be extracted from a single deposit.

It is useful for creating mining vehicles, or high density mining operations.

The appearance of the MiningLaser can not be changed by using the paint tool on it; only the colour of its laser (which is cyan by default).

It is useful for creating mining vehicles, or high density mining operations.

In-game description

"Fires a concentraded beam of energy when powered, which is used to mine objects such as asteroids, mountains and ore deposits. This works similar to an extractor, except it indirectly extracts power from other natural sources. When the laser hits an object, it will extract resources from that object and put it in attached bins. Very useful for creating mining vehicles to extract resources. Unlike the extractor however, this is far more efficient. The MiningLaser outputs 2 resources per second, unlike the extractor which only does 2. This means the laser is 1.5x more efficient. However, the mining laser generates more heat than the extractor. Atleast 2 coolers are recommended per mining laser. "
