The hyperdrive is an essential part of ship. Without it, it is impossible to travel to new planets and regions (the Teleporter can be used to get to new areas, but it cannot teleport parts with it, only players). The amount of power required to warp to an area is displayed under the four large coordinates displayed on the center of the hyperdrive. The configure mechanic on the hammer can be used to change the coordinates of the hyperdrive, and the warp can be initiated by triggering it through some means (for example by clicking an attached button).
Trivia
- Despite what it may seem, the hyperdrive does not require to be in space to work properly. Activating it while your ship is on a planet will have the same effect as if it were in space.
- Parts attached with hinges, springs, motors, etc. will not warp with the hyperdrive.
- Leaving your seat or deleting the hyperdrive during the warp may cause some unintentionally behavior. See here for a list of bugs involved with the hyperdrive.
